<Tallone Typeface Specimen 2024

Two double-page spreads with character set and article from The Architectural Review.

Tallone is a typeface designed for text and printed matter inspired by the 'Tallone' typeface designed by Alberto Tallone and engraved in Paris by Ch. Malin. From the beginning, the goal of the project was to create a typeface suitable for current small-body text. This intent is reflected in the design, which features low contrast, a large x-height and a constant rhythm, elements that contribute to a uniform grayness of the page. Alberto Tallone was a renowned Italian printer, known for his dedication to the art of typography and high-quality printing. His production always aimed for excellence, enhancing the content through careful choice of typefaces and craftsmanship in printing. Tallone's original typeface is a harmonious fusion of styles that draw on calligraphy and traditional typographic design, with softer, more welcoming forms. Based on these premises, the design retained some distinctive features of the original, reinterpreting them in a modern key to adapt to the needs of contemporary digital typography.
